Why does utorrent ban peers

Most of the wasted data isn't bad data, it's just data you already had or didn't request it happens. This has been requested already, no? I've been hammered by some nasty fake senders so I do find it useful. But 5 hash fails is nothing The answer is right above your post a bit ridiculous, isn't it?

I'm downloading a CD MB and I've gotten hash fails which in my mind is a lot considering what I've seen in other clients. This wasted a total of IMHO if the same peer sends bad data more than once it should be banned. I looked in the peer-list and a lot of the peers i was transferring data from were in the same IP-Block range So suspicions were aroused..

And i decided to install Protowall, I then re hash-checked the torrent, rebooted, update the IP block list in Protowall, and continued to download the torrent Guess that explains a lot for that torrent anyway.

Well done kludge, infact most bad data comes from fake seeders. You can see this when you try to download the latest file movies. Currenlty Utorrent uses IPfilter. These bastards can delay you from getting a 1gb file for up to 76 hours. I got hit once now I uses Azureus but haven't tried uttorent yet, I'll get a try and see. The myBittorrent. Shame some people are too ignorant, or unknowing and blame the client.

But yes, this is a rather unique situation since in this case we're actually relying on BT to transport data out from a network we know causes data corruption, but I can't remember having these problems before switching to uTorrent. Used original bittorrent client before I believe.. So this topic has been mentioned about 3 years ago, and the banning system hasn't been overhauled yet.

Since the last post, there have already been some updates, and I presume it means that there are other areas that are of higher priority to attend to first. I'm not pushing for the auto-unban feature immediately, I'm just curious to know if you have an answer for whether you have planned for the time when it would be done. Thanks for the great program. Nevertheless I had already downloaded over mb corrupted pieces hashfails! So of course I tried out a way to unban the culprit s and I found this thread as google "reply" This is not true uT 1.

According to my several tests solely stopping pausing is not working and restarting the torrent is sufficient to automatically unban the peer which had been automatically banned. Hence no need to restart uT as whole. Anyway the problem is also that uT keeps going on asking the same piece again and again instead of randomly choosing another one. So the hashfailed piece is being asked again as soon as possible thus if there is only on peer having this piece in the swarm the banned and maybe unbanned one the story begins again and again, leaving no chance to this peer to deliver any other good piece anymore.

I don't know what was the devs logics behind this behaviour but it's a real pain in the a Yes that's a good hint, thanks!

The problem though is that I don't really understand how the bt. I understand that a lower will be more forgiving Help File but what does default mean? There should be some user options available here in the utorrent GUI. I would also repeat what others have said that if this is happening to others, it is probably happening to me too. How do I know that I am not sending too many pex messages with utorrent 3. I can appreciate the difficulty and enormous amount of work involved in coding a complex client like utorrent, but this is a significant fault that needs some more attention, IMO.

It's probably not at the top of the list of priorities, but should be somewhere fairly high up. At least, I hope it gets on the list of things-to-do-sometime. Just enable then disable PEX, and you'll be fine It makes you use PEX a couple of times, and disables it after that, both ways.

No one will get banned. Understood, but that leaves a riddle. If I was already banned, is there any way to unban myself? Figured it out already probably - just get a new IP. I've done that occasionally when torrents slow down and it helps. Maybe I was banned? Vaguely similar issue. I want to ban all peers except my seedbox.

Basically, want the seeding to be handled by my seedbox, and only upload to a single user my 2nd self from my computer. As my isp has a gb upload cap, and my seedbox has a 4tb upload cap. It just makes it less likely. For example, routers with game mode do not screw up every torrent, just torrents with data that look like what the router needs to change for game mode. Glad to hear it finished though.

Disabling DHT and disconnecting from the torrent and reconnecting will prevent many BitComet clients from connecting to you in the first place. For some reason uTorrent's autoban is not working well. After the 6th hashfail overall starts banning every ip which sends you bad data or some other problem causes hashfail in my case fucking ISP , even if it was the FIRST hashfail from that IP!

It could be that others already reported this bug, but i couldn't found it, so i thought it is easier just to report it. With that you could work out if it is a peer just sending bad data to corrupt the torrent or just the occasional coruption along the line. I would prefer to ban peers that have contributed to 5 pieces and had 5 hashfails rather that a peer that has had 10 hashfails but has contributed to pieces.

Is there any way of preventing HashCheck Fails as I am fed up of having to cancel torrents as uTorrent bans them i know u can reset bans but then it just bans it again, even for torrents with full green health. Help me please. Kayhe9: good idea. Ban peers who continuously send bad data! Start new topic. Prev 1 2 Next Page 2 of 2.
