Where is slack creek qld

The surrounding streets has some "questionable" people and there has also been a lot of crimes since we moved in. From break and enters to weapon and drug offences. I personally don't walk around the neighbourhood. Saying that, hopefully this area is the next to boom and the trouble makers are forced out. I purchased a place here in and have enjoyed a relaxed and comfortable life style ever since. My mortgage is small and manageable. My neighbours are quiet and friendly, my street is clean and well presented.

Feels like it can only get better. It's so cheap compared to the suburbs that border it to the North and East. I came from another area of Brisbane and I was surprised when locals said they had reservations about living in Slacks Creek because of its proximity to Logan Central.

I think it's just and old way of thinking that is slowly disappearing. A lot of tradies here too, and they love to renovate. Im looking to buy here and from all accounts its great!!!!! As i live close by i have had my eye on this area for sometime plus its affordable to. Slacks Creek is a great suburb with very friendly down to earth people.

The area has a number of parks, playgounds and great walking tracks for those who love the outdoors or who exercise pets. I have been living in the area for more than 4 years and have never experienced any crime or trouble with neighbours. The area is currently receiving a face lift, with a new bus way and a park and ride in construction. This is definately a surburb not to overlook or underestimate.

Im going to add my general opinion on the "current" state of Slacks Creek, according to recent logan property charts Slacks Creek is in the top 5 of "most likely to experience high growth" suburbs. Some investors are purchasing property in the area as there is "steady" growth in regards to "capital gains". In my overall opinion I think the area is doing much better than recent times and will continue to grow according to the "current" property trends.

However keep a close eye also on Springwood and Daisy Hill as they are high contenders of Slacks Creek. Harry Jones. Hello everyone, I just wanted to express my opinion of Slacks Creek, I have lived there in the past and am very familiar with Logan City suburbs.

Slacks Creek has been an area which in the past has been known for crime however I never came accross this when I was living there and the odd hoons doing burn outs up kingston road. I must admit the area has definately experienced considerable growth over past phew years though, there seems to be more good coming in and the bad being pushed out.

I have friends in Slacks Creek and when I visit the area it seems alot quiter and there are a lot more renevated houses these days. There also appears to be more families and kids playing on the streets then I remember. The general locan city property charts are expecting Slacks Creek to be one of the higher growing areas due to its location being in the middle of everything. Hope this helps anyone looking for information on the area.

Thanks, Amy Taylor. We have been living in Slacks Creek for a while now and have found it is a very civilized neighbourhood, close to the new IKEA which is the largest IKEA in the southern hemisphere and close to the M1 which takes you mintues to get to the Gold Coast and minutes to Brisbane City. It seems like more families coming to the suburb which gives a good feeling when out and about. I can see Slacks Creek as having considerable growth over the next years, as population growes logan areas are going to be considered very close to Brisbane City with easy access to the M1 you can't go wrong with those capital gains.

The area has had significant growth in the past years. Slacks Creek is still close enough to the CBD although traffic is starting to get really bad on the highway. Even though substantial development has gone ahead in the area it is still not the safest and must be weary. For investors and first home buyers I really believe you may have missed the boat purchasing here and that there are now more affordable solutions such as Crestmead, Marsden and Beenleigh. Slacks Creek has come a long way in recent times with the new Ikea moving from Springwood to Slacks Creek.

Whats more the new Ikea is super sized and i believe one of or the even the biggest Ikea in all the Southern Hemisphere. The beauty of this area is you can still buy good two storey homes in the 's and if your lucky you may even get a solid brick home you can gut renovate and make quick money on.

Especially with all the first home buyers at the moment. If you want a good head start in life start with a cheaper home and renovate! John Slack grazed cattle in the district from about He died in and his son William remained in the area and married Mary Anne Skyring. William Slack leased land along the current Pacific Highway in between Paradise Road and the Loganlea Road interchange, where he ran a slaughter yard.

He ran a second slaughter yard opposite what is now the Upper Mount Gravatt school. Samuel Markwell was the first to purchase land in the district. He selected acres of the Mungaree leased land in When the first bridge over the Brisbane River was constructed in , the land was opened up for closer settlement and the rough bush track through Mt Gravatt to the Logan River was known as Slack's track. The main road to the south followed the path of the current Pacific Highway to Loganlea Road, and then crossed Slacks Creek on Loganlea Road and continued to Waterford.

Mail services began in , with the Markwells acting as receiving office keeper. Once the railway opened in , mail was collected from the railway at Loganlea. By , a receiving office had opened at Daisy Hill. Mail was delivered by horse and buggy twice a week.

The original Slacks Creek school was located on Loganlea Road. The Slacks Creek provisional school was subject to much local flooding and, by the end of , the school and teacher's residence were moved to a flood-free location between the Pacific Motorway and Winnetts Road where the Logan East State Emergency Service buildings now stand.

In , the school was moved to Daisy Hill Road after the ever-increasing traffic on the Pacific Highway the section now called Winnetts Road made it a less-than-ideal site for a school. A small cemetery exists beside the church. Both are on the State Heritage Register. The store was built of bricks removed from a demolition site in Brisbane and it housed the telephone exchange, post office and a general store.

In March , business became so brisk that Floate built a new post office next door. Both buildings remain on the service road to the south of the Watland Street overpass which was built in The site was home to an army camp during the war.
