Nike plus sportband how does it work
Of course, ultimately, weight loss comes down to burning more calories than you consume. But working out can be tough! Building up the motivation to exercise is the first great hurdle. Since the s, technology has started to do its part in getting us up off the couch, out of the office and into the park for some bodily movement. When you can't have a workout buddy, being able to post scores and compete with your friends is the next best thing. Beyond motivation, these devices make exercising simpler.
You're still going to have to put in the physical labor, but they'll take care of the number crunching by timing your workouts and figuring out how much exercise you're actually getting. What does that mean? The SportBand is essentially a convenient display for exercise tracking data. We'll get into the why on the next page with the SportBand's hardware, then move onto the calorie-counting software and comparisons between the SportBand and Nike's newer FuelBand.
One of them is very, very simple. It's a rubber watch band. Just like any other watch band, pretty much, but with one exception: opposite the watch band holes is a small rectangular socket in the rubber. This slot is what secures the second component of the SportBand, which is actually a USB thumb drive.
While the SportBand is water resistant, using the buttons underwater or exposing the SportBand to hot steam can be damaging. The thumb drive is made from curved plastic so it neatly rests atop the watch band, and it houses the SportBand's LCD display and a pair of control buttons on its surface. The LCD can function as a plain digital watch, but its primary goal is to convey exercise information via a calorie counter, timer, distance gauge and pace meter.
The button beside the display will start up exercise tracking, while a toggle button on the side of the device switches between functions. Find Your Friends — Runners will now be able to search for like-minded and similarly-skilled runners, accept new friend requests and initiate challenges in conjunction with their favorite social media platforms.
New Shoe Finder — This feature asks runners to answer a few simple questions in order to receive a customized shoe recommendation based on the latest shoe technology. Runners can choose from a pre-set coaching program, or personalize their own routine and goals with more flexibility. Wholly owned Nike subsidiaries include Converse Inc. The numbers will stop blinking and the bar will animate along the bottom of the display.
Page After Your Run Press the Toggle button on the side to cycle through the three review screens of your workouts until you get to the current time. If only one active sensor is present, a blinking LINK message will appear. The linking is complete once the OK message has appeared for 5 seconds. The SportBand can only link to one new shoe sensor at a time.
Walk away from where you are to allow the SportBand to establish the link to the sensor in the shoes you are wearing.
Important: You can only link up to a total of eight different sensors. If you link to a 9th sensor, the link to the 1st sensor will be deleted. Page Losing Connection To A Sensor If you stop for longer than 5 minutes, the recording automatically pauses, and the most recent display metric blinks. To resume recording, you must manually press the Record button on the top again, and start running. All of your recorded runs will be uploaded to nikeplus.
When the battery is full, the message will change to FULL. Simply look at the icon in the lower-left corner of the main window, or check the status using the main menu. Page Understanding Battery States After that time has passed, the recording will automatically end, and the display will exit to the time of day.
Note: A blank screen indicates that the battery has completely run out, and needs to be recharged. The metrics recorded up until the time of the freeze should be safe. Your web browser will open automatically, and take you to nikeplus. Would you like to download and install it now? Page Specifications By exercising, you assume the risks inher- ent in physical exercise, including any injury that may result from such activity.
Warning: the sensor is a potential choking hazards. Keep it away from children under three years of age. Important: Do not attempt to open the sensor, disassemble it, or remove the battery.
